Monthly meetings have resumed, see details below.

Welcome to the website of Comber and District U3A.

We are part of the wider u3a movement across the U.K., which caters for people who are no longer in full time employment but who wish to remain active and keep learning and having fun. Hence the u3a strap line of Learn, Laugh, Live. We are a registered charity and a self help organisation, offering a range of groups which are led by members for members. Our group activities range from bridge, languages, food and photography to play reading, walking, tai chi and technology. ( see details of forthcoming activities on the right hand side). They offer the opportunity to share your enthusiasms and skills with others while learning new things and above all making new friends.

In addition to nearly 30 member led groups we also have a monthly meeting for all our members, on the last Monday of the month. In normal times this is held in the hall of First Comber Presbyterian Church and features a guest speaker and the opportunity for members to meet together over a cup of tea. We have also organised various local weekends away and continental holidays.

We’d love you to join us ( details in the Membership section above) and take the opportunity to:

Gillespie Monument, Comber Square.

Welcome to a new year. Unfortunately we are still in the grip of Covid-19 and its  attendant restrictions, so we must continue to build on safe ways to continue our activities.

Monthly meetings (like many of our group activities) will continue via Zoom. Thank you to those who told us how much you have enjoyed our excellent speakers and the opportunity to share thoughts and memories. Feedback is always appreciated. You will be pleased to know that we have a great programme of speakers lined up for 2021 and we hope that even more of you will join us in the months ahead

While meeting virtually is not as good as face to face, we are pleased that, at a time when we must stay at home to prevent the spread of the virus, we have the option to at least see friendly faces and hear familiar voices. We will be looking at ways to use the tools available to allow more social interaction and sharing.  If YOU have any ideas to help that or if you need a bit of assistance with Zoom then please get in touch. In the meantime STAY SAFE.
