Walks for Ramblers

As cautioned in my E-Mail of 12 March the recent heavy rain will have left the Lead Mines in a very wet, muddy and slippery condition so prudence dictates we defer that walk until a later date when conditions will be more conducive to pleasant walking.

The walk on Monday 18 March 2019 will now start from the car park at Belvoir Forest Park and follow various paths around the Lagan Valley Regional Park. The precise route will be dependant on the condition of the various paths. The route will be all off-road and be on paths of tarmac, gravel and, if suitable, beaten earth. There will be few, if any, significant gradients on the route. We will be close to the Lockkeepers Cottage for those who way to finish with refreshments. We will aim for a distance of about 5 miles.

We will meet at 11.00 at the car park in Comber or at 11.30 at the car park in Belvoir. As before if you are planning to meet us at Belvoir please let me know in advance.

Directions to Belvoir Forest Park.  Take the A55 Belfast Ring Road passing Forestside on the right hand side. Go straight on at the traffic lights onto Belvoir Road. Immediately after passing the overhead pedestrian bridge turn right into Belvoir Drive. There is a sign for Belvoir Forest Park on the left directing to the entrance on the right. Turn right into the narrow road and follow it to the car park at the end.

Hope to see you there:  Eddie Bell
