Walks for Ramblers

COMBER AND DISTRICT U3A RAMBLERS WALKING GROUP

The last Comber U3A Ramblers walk was on Monday 5 November when 16 of the Ramblers had a very pleasant walk through Cregagh Glen.

The next Comber U3A Ramblers walk is scheduled for Monday 19 November and will be a new walk for us around Kircubbin. The walk will be led by Peter Jackson whose mobile phone number is 07796 531847.

It is a walk of an estimated 5 miles around the outskirts of Kircubbin. It will be mainly on quiet country roads with a possible short off-road section that may be muddy. There is one medium gradient otherwise the gradients are slight. We will finish our walk in a local hostelry for refreshments. It is not intended to have a refreshment stop but it is always sensible to carry something to eat and drink.

We will meet at 11.00 at the car park in Comber beside the Leisure Centre to share cars to the start OR at 11.40 at the green beside Katch 27 restaurant in Kircubbin (directions to the start are given below).

As always it is suggested walking boots or sturdy shoes are worn and waterproof clothing carried if you have them. Walking Poles are unlikely to be necessary.

Return to Comber around 3.00 is anticipated.

It is desirable but not essential that you let the walk leader know of your intention to be present. It is particularly important to do so if you plan to meet with the group at Kircubbin.

Can I remind those sharing cars that it is the practice that the passengers make a contribution to the driver to cover costs.

Those who have not already done so will be required to sign a disclaimer form before the walk. Copies will be available at the start.

It is strongly recommended that you check your E-Mail on Sunday night before the walk to ensure that no changes have had to be made to the walk.

If you no longer wish your name to be retained on the Comber U3A Ramblers walking list please let me know and your details will be removed.

Directions to Kircubbin

Kircubbin is about 14 miles from Comber. Drive towards Newtownards and take the Portaferry Road (A20) passing Mount Steward. Turn right at the roundabout in Greyabbey and continue to follow the Portaferry Rd as it turns left. Continue on to Kircubbin. Katch 27 and a car park are on the right as you enter Kircubbin.

Hope you are able to attend the walk:  Eddie Bell
